Minister Balakrishna seeks Suttur Mutt Seer’s blessings

‘We are also excited about HDK’s bomb remark’

Mysuru: Even as Union Minister and senior JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy (HDK) announced that he would drop a ‘bombshell’ in a few days that would rock the ruling dispensation in Karnataka, Minister for Municipal Administration H.C. Balakrishna sarcastically said that the ruling Congress Government  too is ‘excited’ about what the bombshell would be.

Speaking to presspersons ahead of chairing a  progress review meeting of his Department, at  the Regional Commissioner’s Office on Hunsur Road here this morning, Balakrishna said, ‘perhaps’, the bomb may be about getting nod of the Union Government for the execution of Mekedatu balancing reservoir project.

“Kumaraswamy has been made as a Union Minister to serve the people and the State. The Minister may be thinking about dropping a ‘bombshell’ on developmental matters. No one can understand what is in Kumaraswamy’s  mind. Though Kumaraswamy is my old friend I cannot read his mind,” he said.

Commenting on BJP’s ‘Ballari Chalo’, he joked that the BJP may be taking out the padayatra in praise of the State government. “It is the job of the Opposition parties to oppose the Government on every matter. As such, the BJP can do what it wants. In any case B. Nagendra who quit as Minister, is only an accused and not guilty and it is left to the Court to decide. Nagendra’s resignation has not caused any embarrassment to the ruling Congress. In any case, there are bound to be differences in all political parties,” he contended.

Later Balakrishna held a progress review meeting of three districts — Mysuru, Kodagu and Chamarajanagar.

Mysuru Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, Chamarajanagar DC Sriroopa, former Minister K. Venkatesh, MLA G.D. Harish Gowda, MLC C.N. Manjegowda and other officials were present.
