Minister distributes 50,000 food kits to flood victims in Kodagu

 Food and Civil Supplies Minister Zameer Khan distributing food kits to flood-hit families at a function at APMC Yard in Madikeri yesterday.

Madikeri: Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Zameer Khan distributed food kits under a special Anna Bhagya Scheme to 50,000 families affected by flood in Kodagu at a function held yesterday at APMC Yard here.

The food kit comprised 10kg rice, 1kg each of tur dal, salt and sugar, 1 litre of edible oil and 5 litre of kerosene.

After symbiotically distributing the food kits, Zameer Ahmed Khan said that temporary ration cards would be issued in a fortnight to the flood-hit families.

He added that the number of food kits would be increased if necessary.

He further said that over 50 relief centres have been opened for flood victims in the district which have been regularly supplied with food materials and LPG along with other essentials.

The Minister said that additional food grains would be issued to the flood victims through Gram Panchayats and added that more kerosene was being supplied to the victims for lighting purpose as power supply has been badly affected in the district.

MLC Veena Achaiah, DC P.I. Sreevidya, Municipal President Kaveramma Somanna and Department officials were present.
