Minister fires MySugar boiler to re-start Power Unit

Mandya – Housing and Mandya District In-charge Minister M. Krishnappa on Friday fired the boiler to re-start MySugar Power Generation Unit, which was shut down for over two years.

Speaking on the occasion, Krishnappa said that the modernisation of ‘A’ Mill of the century-old iconic factory and the repair of boiler of Co-generation unit have been completed.

Stating that the ‘A’ Mill has cane crushing capacity of 5,000 tonnes per day, the Minister said the farmers will get 70 percent of the value of the sugarcane within one day of its supply to the factory, while the rest will be paid after 15 days.

Pointing out that MySugar was the only Government-run sugar factory in the State, he said Mandya is known as ‘Sugar Town’ mainly because of the    location of the factory.

Noting that Chief Minister Siddharamaiah had set aside Rs. 20 crore in the State budget for modernisation of the factory, Krishnappa appealed the farmers to lend a helping hand for restoring the past glory of the factory.
