Minister inaugurates JSS Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre

Halbhavi and Veerappa Endowment Awards conferred on achievers

Mysuru: “Karnataka is the first State in the country to blend its ‘Arogya Karnataka’ programme with the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat’ to evolve a comprehensive health scheme,” said Minister for Health and Family Welfare Shivanand Patil. He was speaking after inaugurating the JSS Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre at a function held at Rajendra Bhavan in JSS Hospital premises here yesterday.

The occasion also marked conferring of ‘Vachana Chitrarachana Pithamaha M. Veerappa Endowment Award’ on artists G.M. Hegde (2017) of Sirsi and R. Puttaraju (2018) of Mysuru and ‘Kala Guru D.V. Halbhavi Award’ on Karnataka Lalithakala Academy Chairperson Prof. M.J. Kamalakshi (2017) and Dharwad’s Rashtriya Drishya Kala Academy Chairman Dr. S.C. Patil (2018). MLA S.A. Ramdas released the book ‘Sri Padakke Namo Namo’ written by C. Ankappa and edited by Dr. Nandeesh Hanche.

Academy Award winner S.M. Jambukeshwara was also felicitated on the occasion.

The Minister hailed the services of JSS Mahavidyapeetha and KLE Society in the field of health. He sought the help of various organisations in opening more centres to rehabilitate the physically challenged.

Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji graced the occasion. Former MLA Chandrakanth Bellad and others  were present.
