Minister Roshan Baig inspects development works in city

Minister R. Roshan Baig is seen inspecting the works in progress near  Akashavani in Yadavagiri this morning as Mayor M.J. Ravikumar, former Mayor Ayub Khan, MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha and others look on.

Mysuru: Minister for Urban Development, Haj and Wakf R. Roshan Baig this morning inspected various developmental works being undertaken in city.

The Minister inspected the road development works in progress from Dasappa Circle to the Ring Road via Akashavani at a cost of Rs. 4 crore.

The works include asphalting the 2.1 km stretch, laying of inter-locking tiles and developing bicycle lane. While the road asphalting works has been taken up at a cost of Rs. 1.52 crore, the footpath works and bicycle lane have been taken up at a cost of Rs. 2.48 lakh.

The Minister, after the inspection, asked the officials to speed up the works as Dasara festival is round the corner besides asking them to maintain quality.

When SOM pointed out to numerous potholes on the main roads in city, Minister Roshan Baig said that the issue has come to his notice. He said that he has instructed the officials to complete the pothole filling works at the earliest without giving reasons of rains.

When the Minister was shown trees covered with concrete without allowing space for rain water to flow to the roots, he took the MCC Engineer to task and asked him to get the concrete removed and facilitate rain water to flow to the roots of trees across the city.

He later inspected works undertaken on JLB Road and other places before proceeding to Tilaknagar to lay the foundation for iron fencing of Eidgah Maidan.
