Minister Somanna inaugurates ‘Rozgar Mela’ in Mysuru

‘Modi Government has done more in 12 years what could not be done in 50 years’

Mysuru: Asserting that Prime Minister  Narendra Modi led NDA Government had done a lot in just 12 years what could not be done in the past 50 years, Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna said the Union Government is working on ensuring that all eligible youths of the country get a dignified job or get  self-employment opportunities.

He was speaking after inaugurating the 20th tranche of Rozgar Mela of Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs at All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) campus at Manasagangothri here this morning.

“India is the most populous country in the world and the Union Government has invested much in key sectors like education, health and digital infrastructure, in a bid to use the vast human resources in country building .The ‘Skill India’ Mission was launched in 2015 and since then, more than 1.64 crore youths have been trained in different type of skills and distributed certificates. At the same time, the number of ITIs (Industrial Training Institute) in the country has risen from 9,776 in 2014 to 14,682 in 2026. The country also saw a  whopping 36 percent rise in job creation by start-up companies, in the last one year, which is a huge achievement”, Somanna pointed out.

Noting that Karnataka stands third in implementation of MUDRA (Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency) scheme, Somanna said under Pradhan Mantri Internship Scheme, it has been planned to provide practical training to over one crore eligible youths in 500 top companies of the country in the next five years, he said adding that the Government has come up with PLI Scheme for boosting the manufacturing sector in key areas like Electronics, Mobile Phones, Textiles etc., He further said that the Indian Education System has been overhauled through NEP-2020, aimed at enhancing skills, productivity and employability.”

 All those receiving appointment certificates today are all partners of the country’s growth journey”,he added.

AIISH Director Dr. Pushpavathi, Principal Commissioner of Central Tax, Mysuru CGST Commissionerate Ravindra Ramachandra Bangar, MP Yaduveer Wadiyar, MLA T.S. Srivatsa and others were present.
