Mysuru: District in-Charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa and Social Welfare Minister H. Anjaneya, beat the drums, in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple, Palace North Gate, here to signal the beginning of the two-day Sadhaneya Samavesha, organised by the Information and Public Relations Department.
In all, 16 group of folk artistes from eight districts had gathered to take out a procession, on the main thoroughfares of the city and Dr. Mahadevappa after performing Nandi Kamba puja, inaugurated the procession. Later, speaking he said, “Most of the promises we had made during the elections, we have fulfilled. The aim of the Government is to bring its achievements in front of the public, after completing four years successfully.”
However, there were not many people, even though the folk artistes had come prepared enthusiastically and were seen performing their routines with great gusto. The procession passed through K.R. Circle, took a left turn, entered Sayyaji Rao Road, wound its way through Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), Basavanna Circle, entered Chamaraja Double Road, touched Ramaswamy Circle and ended at the Maharaja’s College Grounds.
The folk artistes in colourful costumes, representing different districts, performed traditional dances particular to their region like Veera Ghase (Chikmagalur), Dollu Kunita (Mandya), Koragur Dola Kunita and Chande Vadana (Dakshina Kannada), Karaga Kola aata, Kangeelu Kunita (Udupi), Garuvara Kunita, Jenu Kuruba dance (Chamarajanagar), Keelu Kudure (Hassan), Bolakat, Suggi Kunita (Kodagu) and Garudi Gombe (Mysuru).
