Bengaluru: Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar has clarified that the violence in Nagamangala town during the procession of Ganesha idols is a trivial incident, not a communal clash.
Reacting to media persons, he said, it was an accidental incident, which shouldn’t have happened, but cannot be called a communal clash.
The DIGP, Superintendent of Police (SP) and Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) platoon is camping at the spot. The ADGP (Law and Order) has also rushed to the spot. The Police have averted what could have led to a major incident and one should refrain from any further publicity related to the incident, he said.
To a question on the claims of Union Minister and Mandya MP H.D. Kumaraswamy that the increased appeasement of people belonging to a particular faith had led to the violence, Dr. Parameshwar said, if the Police are given a free hand to deal with such incidents, without any political interference, it would be better. At the outset, there was no political provocations behind the incident, the Home Minister said.
