Mysuru: Chairman of Karnataka State Minorities Commission U. Nisar Ahmed has instructed the officials to reach various facilities provided by the Government for the progress of minority communities to eligible beneficiaries.
He was chairing the District-level tri-monthly meeting on Prime Minister’s 15-point programme on the development of minorities for the year 2024-25, at Deputy Commissioner’s Office here on Tuesday.
The Education Department officials were told to fill the vacant posts of anganwadi workers and assistants at Anganwadi Centres of Minorities. The survey of dropouts belonging to minorities from Government Urdu Schools and the reasons, should be conducted. Besides, steps should be taken to bring back the dropouts to schools. The facilities must be provided to eligible beneficiaries under Vajpayee Urban Housing Scheme, by the District Urban Development Cell (DUDC).
The interested students must be provided employment opportunities by District Employment Exchange, by collecting details of available vacancies at various companies and factories.
Under Horticulture Department, the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayi Yojana and National Horticulture Mission should be extended to eligible minorities. It would be easier to provide the facilities, after collecting details pertaining to exact number of minorities involved in farming, instructed Nisar Ahmed.
Secretary of Karnataka State Minorities Commission Mujeebulla Zafari said, the 15-point programme has been introduced against the earlier 12-point programme. That apart, the Commission is verifying whether the minorities are reaping the benefits to achieve their progress, with the Commission vested with powers akin to Civil Court. The information can be accessed from any officer and if otherwise, notice can be issued to obtain the information.
The Minorities Commission, that enjoys certain power, intends to work towards maintaining communal harmony, he added.
The children belonging to Minority Communities should be provided student scholarship on time, along with providing hostel facilities for them. Better quality food and potable water should be provided at hostels of minority communities. Banks should sanction loan by following simple procedures and Lead Bank Manager should take action in this regard.—Nisar Ahmed, Chairman of Karnataka State Minorities Commission.
