Girl is five months pregnant, Cops book case under POCSO Act

Hunsur: An incident of a 16-year-old boy marrying a 15-year-old girl and the girl getting pregnant has come to light at Billenahosahalli hamlet, Hanagodu hobli coming under Neralakuppe Gram Panchayat limits recently.

It is learnt that the marriage between the minors were performed eight months ago and the incident came to light when the girl approached Anganwadi workers for ‘Thayi Card,’ which was being distributed for pregnant women by the Government.

The Anganwadi workers, suspecting her age, enquired about the wedding, during which the marriage between the minors came to light and they immediately informed the Women and Child Welfare Department officials, who in turn informed the jurisdictional Police. The Police, have taken both the boy and the girl into custody and have booked a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The girl has been shifted to Girls Balamandira in Mysuru. A case has also been registered against the boy, who has also been sent to Boys Balamandira in Mysuru.
