Mysuru: A miscreant, in the guise of a passenger, made away with the mobile phone of a fellow passenger, which he (miscreant) had taken to make an urgent call. The incident took place at Suburban Bus Stand in city last morning. The person, who lost his mobile phone, is V.C. Tejas (In the above pic.), son of Cheluvaraju, a resident of Ramakrishnanagar in city.
Tejas, who runs an online business, owns a shop at Gopalan Mall at BTM Layout in Bengaluru. Yesterday morning at about 11.55, Tejas boarded a Volvo bus to Bengaluru at Suburban Bus Stand, bought a ticket and took a seat.
After a few minutes, a person with a college bag boarded the bus and sat next to Tejas. The person, who looked restless, asked Tejas to give him his mobile phone to make an urgent call as the battery of his phone was dead and the phone switched off.
Tejas, then asked for the number and dialled the given number only to receive the message that the caller was busy. The stranger then gave another number to Tejas, who dialled and when connected, he gave the phone to the stranger sitting next to him.
The stranger, after speaking a few sentences, got up from his seat, placed his bag on the seat and while continuing his talk moved step-by-step towards the exit and got down from the bus. As the stranger did not board the bus, Tejas alighted the bus to look for the stranger, who was not to be seen anywhere. When Tejas boarded the bus and checked the bag which the stranger had kept on the seat, he (Tejas) found only old newspapers in it. Tejas then cancelled his journey to Bengaluru, proceeded to Lashkar Police Station and lodged a complaint.
Lashkar Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating. Meanwhile, the Police have warned the passengers not to give their phones or any valuables to strangers besides asking them not to accept any eatables or soft drinks from strangers or fellow passengers.
