Miscreant steals cash, gold kept in scooter dicky

Attention Diversion…

Mysuru: A miscreant, diverting the attention of mother and son duo, has allegedly stolen cash and gold jewellery which was kept in the dicky of a scooter.

The mother and son, who lost Rs. 3.40 lakh cash and a pair of gold earrings, are Shakuntala Sahu and Birendra Kumar Sahu, residents of Hootagalli in city.

On Aug. 1, Shakuntala, who was in need of money as she was constructing a house, took her gold ornaments and went to Canara Bank in Hootagalli, along with her son Birendra, where they pledged the gold ornaments and availed a loan of Rs. 3.35 lakh.

After collecting the cash at the Bank, they kept the cash and a pair of gold earrings in the dicky of their scooter (KA-09-H-3050). After travelling a short distance, they came to know that the front tyre was punctured. After getting the puncture repaired, they took the scooter to a garage to get the brakes repaired.

On reaching the garage, the mechanic told them to wait for a while and went to pick up his children from a school.

While the mother and son were waiting at the garage, a man told them that their money had fallen and the mother and son went and picked up Rs. 10, Rs. 20 and Rs. 50 currencies which were scattered on the ground.

When they returned back to the garage, they found the dicky open and the cash and gold earrings missing and later lodged a complaint at Vijayanagar Police Station. Vijayanagar Police, who have registered a case,   are investigating.
