Miscreants lure Coimbatore man with a vehicle drop; rob his phone, cash

Mysuru: Miscreants, on the pretext of giving a drop to a man from Coimbatore, robbed him of his mobile phone and cash at Vidyaranyapuram on the midnight of Oct. 28.

The victim is 50-year-old Rangaswamy who had come to the city to visit his daughter’s house.

Rangaswamy, who arrived in city on Oct. 28 midnight from Coimbatore, alighted the bus at Gun House Circle. As there were no autorickshaws available at that time, he decided to walk and as he was proceeding on Ramanuja Road, two miscreants who came on a scooter, stopped the vehicle next to Rangaswamy and asked him where was he going.

When Rangaswamy replied saying that he was headed to  Vidyaranyapuram, the miscreants told him that they were going the same way and would give him a drop. When Rangaswamy sat on the scooter, miscreants took him near the Muslim Burial Grounds on Sewage Farm Road and robbed him of his mobile phone, gold finger ring and cash, all worth about Rs. 25,000 and fled from the spot.

A case has been registered at Vidyaranyapuram Police Station in this regard.
