Miscreants make futile bids to snatch gold chains in Saraswathipuram

Mysuru: Bike-borne miscreants have made futile bids to snatch gold chains from women in broad daylight at Saraswathipuram here yesterday.

The presence of mind shown by the women helped them save their gold chains from being snatched by the miscreants.

In the first incident which took place at about 12.40 pm on the 5th Main Road, two bike-borne miscreants attempted to snatch a gold chain from a woman who was walking on the road. As soon as the miscreant laid his hand on the chain, the woman held her chain tightly and screamed for help resulting in the miscreants fleeing from the spot.

At about 12.45 pm, the miscreants targeted an elderly woman, who was walking near the Post Office on the 2nd Cross in Saraswathipuram 10 Main Road.

The miscreants, who came from behind, tried to yank off the gold chain from the elderly woman. But the woman held on to her chain tightly forcing the miscreants to flee from the spot.

Meanwhile, a group of youths tried to chase the miscreants but in vain. Corporator R. Lingappa, who rushed to the spot, informed the Saraswathipuram Police and complaints were filed at Saraswathipuram Police Station  in this regard.
