Miscreants waylay car near Gundlupet

Gundlupet: An incident of miscreants waylaying a car near Gundlupet and making away with the vehicle, cash and mobile phones has been reported on NH 766 on Saturday night.

The person, who lost his car, cash and mobile phones, has been identified as Ajmal Ahmed, a resident of Tamacherry in Kerala.

Ahmed was proceeding towards Maddur on Saturday night, when about 20-25 persons who came in five cars, waylaid him and took away Rs. 38,000 cash, two mobile phones and his car.

Police have suspected that the miscreants may have escaped through the town route as the check-posts on Kerala route were closed after 9 pm.

As the Forest Check-Posts are closed for traffic from 9 pm to 6 am, Ahmed had decided to stay near the check-post and proceed further the next morning and was proceeding towards the check-post when the incident took place.

As Ahmed could not reach the town, he caught a lorry the next day morning and came to Gundlupet, where he lodged a complaint.

The Police, who began their investigation, traced the car of Ahmed at Chennamallipura village and took it into custody. Fingerprint experts were also summoned to help them trace the culprits.

SP Dharmedra Kumar Meena, Dy.SP Gangadharaswamy, CI K.V. Krishnappa visited the spot.

Three teams have been formed to nab the culprits, the Police said and added that they would nab the miscreants soon.
