Miscreants who had snatched purse, cell phone from woman arrested

Mysore/Mysuru: Nazarbad Police have arrested two miscreants who had snatched a purse and a mobile phone from a woman in city.

On May 11, when Bannur Town Municipal Council Member Shantharaju and his wife Sujatha were proceeding on their two-wheeler on B.N. Road, two persons on a bike, who came from behind, snatched the purse Sujatha was holding near The President Hotel and sped away. The purse contained Rs. 22,000 worth mobile phone and Rs. 15,000 cash. Though Shantharaju and his wife tried to follow them on their bike, the miscreants had managed to escape following which they lodged a complaint with Nazarbad Police.

Nazarbad Police, who had registered a case, arrested the two miscreants the next day                           (May 12) and interrogated them during which the Cops came to know that they had snatched the purse of Sujatha on B.N. Road and had also extorted money in Lakshmipuram Police limits. Based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have recovered two mobile phones worth Rs. 44,000 and       Rs. 2,000 cash from them.

DCP (Crime and Traffic) S. Jahnavi and Devaraja Sub-Division ACP Shanthamallappa guided Nazarbad Inspector K. Santosh, Sub-Inspectors Vyshali A. Biradar and Srinivas Patil and staff Satish Kumar, Kiran Rathod, Santosh Kumar and Technical Division’s Kumar, in the nabbing and recovery operation.
