Nanjangud:  An elderly woman, who was reported missing on Sunday, has been found dead and her body was found on Wednesday in the empty house, next to the house she was residing.

The deceased woman is Devamma, a resident of Banchallihundi village in the taluk.

The house next to Devamma’s house was vacated to undertake repair works. On Wednesday, foul smell was emanating from the empty house and on opening the door of the house, the body of Devamma covered with a gunny bag was found under the cot.

Devamma’s brother Shivanna Nayaka, who has expressed doubts over his sister’s death, has lodged a complaint with the Police.

Mysuru Rural Police, who visited the spot, conducted mahazar, registered a case and summoned the Dog Squad and Fingerprint experts to the spot.

Additional SP Shivakumar and Dy.SP Govinda too visited the spot. Later, the body was shifted to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem.

Mysuru Rural Sub-Inspector Shivananjashetty said that the exact cause for the death would be known only after receiving the post-mortem report.
