Nanjangud:  The dead body of a woman, who had gone missing about three days ago, was found floating near Hejjige Bridge built across Kapila River yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as Priyanka (26), wife of Mahesh and a resident of  Mullur village.

Police have suspected that Priyanka may have committed suicide as her illicit relationship had come to light.

Priyanka had married Mahesh ten years ago and the couple has two sons. It is learnt that she had illicit relationship with a neighbouring youth, which Mahesh came to know leading to frequent fights in the house.

Mahesh told the Police that his wife had developed illicit relationship with Prabhu, a neighbour and when he questioned his wife, she went missing    three days ago.

Meanwhile, Mahesh alleging that the youth Prabhu with whom his wife had illicit relationship and his (Prabhu) mother      Jayamma were responsible for his wife’s death, has lodged a complaint at Nanjangud Rural Police Station.

Sub-Inspector Puneeth, who has registered a case in this regard, is investigating.
