MLA distributes free bus passes to construction workers

Hunsur: MLA H.P. Manjunath distributed free bus passes provided by Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and the Labour Department to registered construction workers at a simple function organised at the KSRTC Bus Stand in the town.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Manjunath said that the Labour Department was distributing free bus passes to the beneficiaries who had registered their names at Karnataka State Registered Construction and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board in the State and the pass holders can travel in KSRTC buses up to 45-km from the place they had obtained the free pass.

The MLA said that the construction workers can register their names at their nearby Karnataka One or Grama Seva One centres and obtain the free pass. Stating that 13,400 workers in the taluk have registered their names at the Labour Department but free passes were being obtained by only 110 workers, Manjunath said that a minimum of 5,000 workers should come forward to obtain the free bus passes.

Hunsur KSRTC Depot Manager Subramanya said that those who have obtained free passes should compulsorily keep the original pass card with them while travelling and added that black and white and colour photo copies of the bus pass will not be entertained. Labour Inspector Lakshmeesha, Suma and Rajeshwari of Hunsur KSRTC Depot were present.
