MLA Fund: Sait gives consent to buy Rs. 50 lakh worth Covid medicines

Mysore/Mysuru: Narasimharaja MLA Tanveer Sait has said a letter of consent has been given to the State Government to utilise Rs. 50 lakh from his MLA Local Area Development Fund for the purchase of Covid medicines for health facilities in his Constituency.

He told reporters here this morning that there are eight Primary Health Centres and a Covid Care Centre in his Constituency which require medicine to treat patients. Since there will be delay in procurement of medicines by the Government, permission was sought for concession for direct procurement by Health Department from the companies concerned. The Government has given its consent in this regard. This will help in procuring the medicines within one or two days, he added.

On differences of opinion among the elected representatives and bureaucracy, Sait said it was common to have some minor differences, especially when they were dealing with such a big and dreaded pandemic. But it must not be glorified by media in the interest of society, he said adding that the need of the hour was better coordination among one and all to win the battle against Corona.

On the inauguration of oxygen on wheels facility, the MLA opined that it should have been done long ago. However, it was happy to note that a foundation has sponsored four buses for the sake of Corona patients.
