Mysore/Mysuru: On account of Ugadi festival celebrated on Tuesday, Chamaraja MLA K. Harishgowda distributed new almanac (Panchanga) to the members of Brahmin community at Sri Guru Raghavendraswamy temple on Narayana Shastri Road.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said “Almanac provides information about the events that are likely to happen on earth based on the occurrences in the solar system. The celebration of Ugadi festival symbolically represents the joys and sorrows of life through Neem (Bevu) and Bella (Jaggery). Almanac is useful in determining auspicious days and time frames for performing many religious and family events like naming ceremony, Upanayanam, Marriage, Housewarming and post-death rituals,” he said.
Former MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev also spoke on the occasion.
Sri Ilai Alwar Swamiji, President of Priests Association Vidwan Krishnamurthy, Chief Priest of Amruteshwaraswamy temple M.K. Kumar, Convener of Mysuru Yuva Balaga Navin, Ravichandra and others were present at the function.
