Chamaraja MLA L. Nagendra inaugurated the 3-step concrete seating facility at the Eastern side of the University of Mysore (UoM) Hockey Grounds close to the Sports Pavilion here yesterday.
MLA Nagendra and UoM Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar were felicitated on the occasion. Hockey Mysore President K.B. Dilip, Vice-President K.N. Muddaiah, Secretary C.T. Satish, Treasurer M. Ponnappa, in-Charge Director of Department of Physical Education-UoM Dr. P. Krishnaiah, Corporator M.U. Subbaiah, University Hockey Coach Ashok, Lava of Nirmiti Kendra and others were present.
It may be recalled here that Hockey Mysore had submitted a memorandum to MLA Nagendra during the Invitation Cup State-level Hockey Tournament conducted by it at the University Hockey Grounds last year, requesting him to sanction funds for the much needed seating facility for spectators at the Grounds. Following the request, MLA Nagendra had granted Rs. 5 lakh out of his Legislator’s Local Area Development Fund and had performed the Guddali Puja (Ground breaking ceremony) on May.15, 2020 for the seating facility.
