Bengaluru: Accusing the State Government of doing nothing for the revival of Sri Rama Sugar factory in K.R. Nagar taluk, K.R. Nagar MLA S.R. Mahesh submitted his resignation to Assembly Speaker K.B. Koliwad at the ongoing legislative session yesterday.
Claiming that he was upset over the apathetic attitude of the Government in reviving the sugar factory, Mahesh alleged that the Government had not even released the salary dues of the employees.
Maintaining that his numerous representations to the Government seeking revival of the sugar factory had fallen on deaf ears, Mahesh alleged that the Government had failed to release Rs.14.70 crore salary dues of the sugar factory employees.
His series of protests and agitations over the issue had failed to make any impact on the Government and as such, he was submitting his resignation in protest against the Government’s apathy, Mahesh said.
Meanwhile Chief Minister Siddharamaiah in a written reply to S.R. Mahesh on the issue, has said it was not possible for the Government to revive Sri Rama Sugar factory.
However, the Government was considering release of pending salary and other monetary benefits to the factory employees, under the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS).
