MLA writes letter to CM seeking financial aid for Tourist Guides

Mysore/Mysuru: With Tourist Guides thrown out of jobs due to COVID induced lockdown, N.R. MLA Tanveer Sait of the Congress party has appealed the Government to come to their rescue by announcing financial aid.

In a letter to the Chief  Minister, Tanveer Sait said that  thousands of people in the State are dependent on tourism industry  and with the closure of all tourist spots, the Tourist Guides are rendered jobless.

Noting that most of the Tourist Guides do not have any other source of income, he said that it has come to his notice that many of them are finding it extremely difficult to eke out a living  and meeting their medical expenses.

As such the Government should announce financial assistance to all Tourist Guides registered with the Tourism Department.

Maintaining  that the grants announced by the Government to Tourism Department   for 2020-21 has been largely unspent so far, he said that the Government can utilise such funds lying unutilised under various schemes of the Department and need not allocate a special grant for announcing financial aid to Tourist Guides.
