MLC polls: 24-hour ban orders in district on polling day

In the wake of Legislative Council polls  from Local Authorities Constituency for the dual-member Mysuru-Chamarajanagar seat scheduled to take place on Dec.10, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bagadi Gautham, who is also the Electoral Officer, has issued prohibitory orders in Mysuru district from the midnight of Dec.9 till  midnight of Dec.10.

In an order issued to this effect, the DC said that bringing voters to polling booths and dropping them back by the candidates or workers, gathering in groups of more than five in 200mt. radius of booths, campaigning in 100 mt. radius of booths, display of provocative  or derogatory posters  etc., have been banned. 

Also, as a measure to ensure smooth, free and peaceful polling,  all fairs, shandies, festivals have been banned across the district in the period from midnight of Dec.9 till midnight of Dec.10, the order said.
