Mysore/Mysuru: JD(S) MLC Marithibbegowda has urged the Government to conduct University Graduate and Post-Graduate exams as well as engineering and other technical exams, based on the recently concluded SSLC examination model.
In a letter addressed to Deputy Chief Minister Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayan, who is also the Higher Education Minister, Marithibbegowda, who represents South Teachers Constituency in the Legislative Council, said that the UGC (University Grants Commission), in the wake of COVID-19, has already issued revised guidelines for the conduct of exams by the end of September 2020 and the State Government should hold the University and Technical exams by following the guidelines.
Noting that several engineering students have been unable to access online classes, the MLC wanted the Government to conduct a 15-day special class for such students and to hold exams within the deadline set by the UGC.
Suggesting the Government to allow University students who have returned to their native village due to the lockdown to write the exam at the centre nearest to the place of their stay, as was done in the case of SSLC examination, he urged the Government to announce the 2020-21 academic year time-table in order to enable qualifying PUC students to apply for higher education.
