Mysore/Mysuru: Taking objection to the dropping of Applied Science subjects and practicals in Engineering Diploma course (C-20) curriculum, JD(S) MLC Marithibbegowda has urged the Higher Education Minister to include Science subjects in Diploma course as per AICTE Rules.
In a press release, he said that recently, the Technical Education Department had dropped two Science subjects from Diploma curriculum, ignoring the rules set out by Course Development Council (CDC).
Pointing out that Bachelor of Engineering courses have Science subjects, the MLC maintained that it is unscientific on the part of the Technical Education Department to drop Science subjects.
Maintaining that Diploma students will find it difficult when they join BE courses, he said that PUC students will find it much easier than their counterparts from Diploma stream during engineering course.
Stressing on the importance of having Science subjects in Diploma course, the MLC wanted the Technical Education Department to set right the anomaly and include Science subjects in Diploma course in the academic interests of Diploma students who want to pursue BE course.
