Mobile phone snatchers arrested

Mysuru:  Jayalakshmipuram Police, on Dec. 12 have arrested three persons on charges of snatching mobile phones from the public and have recovered 10 mobile phones of various brands worth about Rs. 1,16,490 from them.

The arrested have been identified as 21-year-old Dhanush of Koorgalli, 20-year-old Sachin of Belavadi and 22-year-old N. Nagesh of Hootagalli in city. All the three accused were arrested near a mobile phone repair shop at Paduvarahalli 6th Main Road here.

During interrogation, the accused are said to have confessed of snatching mobile phones from those talking over the phones on roads at various parts of the city. The accused used to come on two-wheelers, snatch the phones and flee from the spot. The owners of the recovered cell phones are to be traced.

DCP Dr. Vikram V. Amathe and N.R. Sub-Division ACP C. Gopal, supervised Jayalakshmipuram Inspector B.G. Prakash, ASI Jayaramu and staff Umesh, Ramesh, Shivamallu, Manjunath, T.M. Prashanth Kumar and Mayappa Karangavi in the nabbing and recovery operation, according to a press release from the Public Relations Officer (PRO), City Police Commissioner’s office, Mysuru.
