Model Poll Code of Conduct: Flying Squad seize Rs.1.08 lakh cash transported without documents

Mysuru: The Flying Squad, which has been constituted to check illegal transportation of cash and other materials to be used to lure voters, have seized Rs.1.08 lakh cash which was being transported without valid documents at Devalapura check-post near here yesterday.

The Flying Squad at about 7.30 pm stopped a car going towards Devalapura from Mysuru for inspection at the check-post.

When the Flying Squad personnel inspected the car, they found Rs.1.08 lakh cash.

When enquired, the occupant of the car, identified as Prasad of Hadinaru village, is said to have told the Flying Squad personnel that he was a flower decorator and he was carrying the payment given to him for decorating the marriage venue at Jayamma Govindegowda Kalyana Mantap at  Kuvempunagar in Mysuru but failed to produce any document in this regard.

Then the Flying Squad personnel, who seized the cash, asked him to come to the Rural Police Station with relevant documents for the seized cash and take his money back.

Flying Squad Officer M.S. Umesh, Rural Police Sub-Inspector Jayaprakash and others were present during the checking.
