Mysore/Mysuru: The Monsoon Session of State Legislature will be held from July 15 to 26, said Legislative Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader yesterday.
Addressing a joint press meet along with Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti at Vidhana Soudha, Khader said that 9-day Session would feature question hour along with motion of attention, zero hour, motion of adjournment among others. He also said, with the term of Existing Committee drawing to an end on Aug. 8, an election proposal to select the members of various Committees for year 2024-25 will be tabled during the Session.
Stating that a Committee to identify the Best Legislator had been formed, Khader mentioned that the presentation of the award would be held during the Session. He also said, special opportunities would be given to Legislators, who will be present the entire day, to speak during the session.
“Arrangements would also be made for students and children to watch the Assembly Session at Vidhana Soudha,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti said that identification of Best Legislator for the year 2022-23 was also almost complete and added that the Session of the first day would commence at 11 am.
Expressing his concerns over the Sessions not being held for 60 days as stipulated, Horatti added that the matter would be discussed with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Answering to a question on renovation of Ministers office in Vidhana Soudha, the Council Chairman said that there was a provision to take up minor renovation with permission but not to renovate according to their wimps and fancies.
