Moonlight Music by Vidu. Devi on Apr. 29

Mysuru, Apr.26- As part of Moonlight Music Programme-199, Vidu. Devi will be presenting Hindustani Music Concert at Suttur Mutt premises, foot of Chamundi Hill, in city on Apr.29 at 6 pm.

She will be accompanied by Pt. Prabhu Rao on harmonium and Pt. Ramesh Dhannur on tabla.

Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji will grace the occasion.

Profiles

Vidu. Devi’s father Jagadish Das is a Keerthanakar and mother was an expert in singing traditional songs. A disciple of Pt. Chandrashekhar Puranikmath of Gwalior Gharana, Vidu. Devi continued her higher education in Music under Narayan Pandit of Honnavar, who is a disciple of Pt. Kumara Gandharva. Later she learnt the nuances of music under Vidu. Padma Talwalkar of Pune and is currently continuing her training under Vid. Vyasamurthy Katti of Bengaluru.

She has secured two years scholarship from the Department of Culture, Government of India and also scholarship given by Sangeetha Nritya Academy, Government of Karnataka. She has won second prize in the All India Akashavani Hindustani Music Contest and has performed at prestigious stages.

Pt. Prabhu Rao is the student of Pt. Puttaraja Gawai Ashrama who is well-versed in vocal and harmonium recitals.

Pt. Ramesh Dhannur, also from Pt. Puttaraja Gawai Ashrama, is a well-known tablist who has accompanied many vocalists of fame.
