Moonlight Music Concert at Suttur Mutt on May 12

Mysuru: The city’s Suttur Mutt’s Monthly Moonlight Music Concert will take place at the Mutt premises at the foot of Chamundi Hill at 6 pm on May 12.

Vid. Dr. Mysore Manjunath, Vid. Sumanth Manjunath and  Malavi Manjunath will present a violin concert. They will be accompanied by Vid. Neyveli Venkatesh on mridanga and Vid.  Vazhappally R Krishnakumar on ghata.

Vid. Mysore Manjunath, an alumni of the city’s JSS institutions, learnt his early musical lessons from his father Vidwan S. Mahadevappa and has presented many musical concerts across the world. Currently, he is serving as the National President of Sanskar Bharati. He has won many awards and prizes including the prestigious Kendra Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Rajyotsava Award,Pitil Chowdiah National Award etc., He has won many titles including ‘Sangeetha Samrat’, ‘Sangeetha Ratna,’ ‘Sangeetha Vidwanmani’, ‘Sangeetha Chudamani,’ among others.

Vid. Sumanth Manjunath is the son of Dr. Mysore Manjunath. . He has bagged a Gold Medal in M.Music course of University of Mysore. He has presented many musical concerts playing violin along with his father both in the country and abroad. He has won many awards and prizes including the prestigious M.S. Subbulakshmi Award given by Mumbai’s Shanmukhananda Sabha.

Malavi Manjunath is the daughter of Dr. Mysore Manjunath. Coming from a family of musicians, Malavi was groomed at an early age in playing violin. She has the distinction of being the Youngest Musician to be invited for the famed Jaipur Music Festival.
