More on Mysuru city traffic problems

Sir,

Apropos “Whither City Traffic?”, “Make K.T. Street pedestrian-friendly” (SOM dated June 23 and June 1) and so many allied  letters, anybody who moves in this stretch will have to suffer the same ordeal and even more. In addition, many name-boards hanging like typical  ‘Sword of Damocles’,  including the one erected by the City Corporation mentioning Ward numbers etc., are hitting hard to the heads of unexpected hapless pedestrians moving on the encroached uneven footpath.

Almost 50 percent of the road is occupied for right parking, with additional wrong parking on the other side also hindering the smooth movement of both pedestrians and vehicles. Senior citizens, ladies and children should think twice before venturing out on this road.

Adding fuel to the fire, almost equal number of vehicles coming in opposite wrong direction in one-way flout all traffic rules, honking and hitting the pedestrians, their bag and baggage from both behind and front, which will neither damage them nor their vehicles.

In earlier days “Tiger” used to pass through warning and instilling fear in the minds of the offenders at least to a certain extent. It is requested that all concerned should take an adventurous hurdle walk at this stretch leaving  their vehicles behind to experience the first-hand difficulties  to  mitigate the problems faced by hapless general public.
