More on Mysuru’s charm

Sir,

Apropos the letter “Mysuru city losing its charm” (SOM dated June 6) by Rama, having visited all the cosmopolitan cities of India and major tier 2 and tier 3 cities,  I can definitely vouch that Mysuru is one of the best places to live compared all these cities.

In Mysuru, we are blessed to have many good motorable roads, though bad roads also do exist, working drainage system and a dependable public transport service.

Travelling time between various locations in Mysuru is minimal. The people of Mysuru are generally friendly, good natured and trust worthy. Shop-keepers are helpful and cheating by them is very minimal compared to other tourist destinations.

There are various entertainment and sight-seeing spots close to Mysuru to spend weekends or long holidays for individuals and groups. We  are also blessed with a good weather throughout the year with no extremities in weather. Most of the locations in and around Mysuru, get drinking water supplied by the Government.

Of course we do have a share of corrupt politicians and bureaucrats like any other place, who do not care for the welfare of the public but unfortunately this is a curse to every place in India.

I am sure that when someone shifts to Mysuru and stays for a couple of years, they would like to settle down in Mysuru. Though the old charm of Mysuru as ‘Pensioners Paradise’ has faded away over a period of time, Mysuru is still a heaven to live, compared to many other  Indian cities. We can gauge the value of Mysuru, only when we visit other places in India.
