Mysuru: Regretting that most of the teachers today are not up to the mark, Rani Chennamma University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof. C.M. Thyagaraju said that this is a matter of grave concern.

He was speaking after inaugurating UGC-NET and K-SET coaching camp organised by Competitive Exams Coaching Centre of KSOU at its Cauvery auditorium in here recently.

Lamenting that students are finding it difficult to get quality and competitive teachers, he wondered what would be the fate of students if teachers lack quality. Noting that though the youths are much educated, he said they are, however, finding it difficult to get jobs because of lack of required skills.

Calling upon students not to give up hope at any point of time, he asked them to make efforts to overcome the hurdles and challenges that come in their way.

Stressing on the need for students to understand that learning is relentless, he underlined the importance of students getting good and quality teachers.

Asserting that UGC-NET and K-SET passed students are more dedicated and committed to their profession, he lauded KSOU for organising coaching classes for UGC-NET, K-SET and other competitive exams.

KSOU Vice-Chancellor Prof.Sharanappa V. Halse said students should take deep interest in studies and learning. Pointing out that UGC-NET and K-SET qualified aspirants would one day become Professors, he said that students are indeed the children of teachers. As such, the students should show respect to their teachers, he added.

Central University of Karnataka, Kalaburagi Education Department Dean Prof. G.R. Angadi gave tips to the aspirants on facing the exams. Coaching Centre Dean Prof. Ramanatham Naidu, Special Officer to the VC Mahadev, Centre Co-ordinator Jainahalli Satyanarayanagowda, Siddesh Honnur and K.G. Ganesh Koppal were present.
