Mysore/Mysuru: MP Pratap Simha and Chamaraja MLA L. Nagendra allotted house numbers through draw of lots to beneficiaries of JnNURM (Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission) at a programme organised at Bamboo Bazar on Sunday.
The draw of lots was held for allotment of house numbers to 252 families living in the slum adjacent to the Railway track passing through Yadavagiri and slum dwellers of Saw Mill area at Bamboo Bazar, for whom the Karnataka Slum Development Board has built houses under JnNURM scheme at Kesare Survey Nos. 484/1 and 484/2.
The slum dwellers at both the locations were living in huts/ sheds/ thatched houses for the past 30 years, without proper civic amenities such as drinking water, electricity and sanitation.
Taking note of the plight of these slum-dwellers who were living in deplorable conditions, the Government built houses for them at Kesare with all civic amenities such as power, drinking water, sanitation, drainage etc. The Kesare housing block also has a park, a Community Hall and Anganwadi Centre.
Speaking after the draw of lots, MLA L. Nagendra said those beneficiaries who participated in the draw of lots can collect their allotted numbers from the office of the Karnataka Slum Development Board located near Highway Circle, upon submission of necessary documents.
He further said that all the beneficiaries who were allotted house numbers in the draw of lots have been asked to vacate their sheds or dwellings within ten days, for which the authorities have already served a notice to them. The beneficiaries, after vacating their dwellings at the two slums, can move to the houses allotted to them at Kesare in accordance with the house number they have got, he added.
MCC Ward 18 Corporator B.V. Ravindra, BJP leaders Somashekar Raju, Dinesh Gowda, Kiran Bolar, Venkataramu, Murugesh, IOC Dealer S.K. Dinesh, Slum Board EE Harish, AEE Ramachandra, MCC Development Officer Yogananda and others were present.
