MP appeals PM to sanction Rs. 10 crore for Buddhist Studies Centre in UoM

Mysore/Mysuru: Making use of the PM’s visit to the city, Chamarajanagar BJP MP V. Sreenivasa Prasad has appealed Modi for sanctioning Rs. 10 crore for the establishment of Buddhist Studies Centre in University of Mysore (UoM) campus at Manasagangothri.

PM Modi, who met Prasad at the venue after he (Modi) had interacted with beneficiaries of various Government schemes at Maharaja’s College Grounds, enquired about his health. During his brief chat with the PM, Prasad complimented him (PM) for setting up of a Buddhist Cultural Centre at Lumbini in Nepal and at the same time sought Central financial assistance for setting up the Buddhist Studies Centre in UoM campus here.

Highlighting that he has been in politics for five decades, Prasad, a veteran politician, reminded Modi that he had served as a Union Minister of State for four years in Atal Behari Vajpyee led NDA Government 20 years ago.

Pointing out that he has been in electoral politics for five decades, Prasad told Modi that he would be completing 50 years of his political life in 2024 after having served as an MP for 6 terms.

Stating that he is an alumni of the century-old UoM, Prasad submitted a memorandum to the PM seeking release of Rs. 10 crore financial aid for the proposed Buddhist Studies Centre.
