MP asks DC not to spend Central Funds on development of circles, graveyards

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha has urged the Mysuru District Administration not to spend the Central Funds to develop circles and graveyards.

In a letter to the Deputy Commissioner, the MP has asked the district revenue head to utilise Rs. 69.39 crore funds allotted to the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) under the 15th Finance Scheme only on most important works. As per norms, 25 percent of the funds could be utilised on the Solid Waste Management units and 25 percent on drinking water schemes.

Accordingly, the funds should be utilised on Solid Waste Management units at Vidyaranyapuram, Rayanakere and Kesare; and for ongoing works of Megalapura and Hongalli water treatment plants.

Simha said that the remaining funds and the accrued Rs. 9.30 crore of the 14th Finance Scheme should be spent on other works after consulting the District Minister, MPs, MLAs and Corporators.

Apart from this, the Central Funds should not be wasted by spending it on upkeep of circles and graveyards.

Hitherto, Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Works Committee Members, former Mayors and party leaders were taking a lion’s share in the Central Funds through ‘adjustment’ politics. This kind of illegal adjustment should be ended,  he added.
