Mysuru: Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha visited K.R. Hospital today and enquired about the health of those undergoing treatment for suspected dengue.
Speaking to media, the MP said that there was increase in dengue and viral fever cases in city and rural places, which was creating panic among the public and added that as per the information provided by District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. B. Basavaraj, there were 100 suspected dengue cases in rural areas and that six persons had died of suspected dengue.
Pratap Simha said that after recent rains, there was a significant increase of mosquitoes in city resulting in outbreak of viral fever and added that the platelets of some patients had drastically decreased. There are no beds even in private hospitals, he said.
The MP said that fogging and cleaning of drains has to be taken up in all 65 Wards of MCC and added that he would speak to the Mayor in this regard.
He urged the public to join hands with the health officials and the MCC in taking precautionary measures and to keep the surroundings clean. DHO Dr. B. Basavaraj, District Vector-borne Diseases Control Officer Dr. Chidambara, K.R. Hospital Superintendent Dr. Chandrashekar and others accompanied Pratap Simha during his visit.
