Releases Prof. M.S. Shekar’s books ‘Sosale Siddappa Samagra Sahitya Samputa’ and ‘Horalu Haadi’

Mysore/Mysuru: Chamarajanagar MP V. Sreenviasa Prasad said that though the number of students coming out of Universities is increasing every year, there is lack of quality among  students.

He was speaking after releasing Prof. M.S. Shekar’s works- ‘Sosale Siddappa Samagra Sahitya Samputa’ and ‘Horalu Haadi’, at a programme organised at Rani Bahadur auditorium on Hunsur road here recently.

Noting that several of the 170 research scholars enrolled with the University of Mysore do not have oratorial skills, Prasad bemoaned that the youths of today seems to have done away with reading habits, as can be found from their quality.

Pointing out that many youths had come to him seeking jobs that does not have anything to do with their academic qualification, Prasad regretted that everyone wants a non-teaching job nowadays.

Asserting that it is acquisition of knowledge alone that will help in lifting us, the MP called upon the students to achieve in their chosen field and not to remain less-satisfied.

The MP further said that he has spoken with Prime Minister Modi and Karnataka Chief Minister Bommai regarding the establishment of Buddha Studies Centre in University of Mysore.

The University should provide land for the Centre, he said adding that funds would be made available for the construction of the building once the land is allotted.

Former Kannada Book Authority Chairman Dr. Nandeesh Hanche said that no one is speaking about the implementation of National Education Policy-2020, which is unfortunate.

University of Mysore Vice- Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar, Kollegal MLA N. Mahesh, author Prof. M.S. Shekar, Cultural thinker Dr. Ananda Murthy, Mahadev Shankanapura, former Rangayana Director Janardhan (Janni), former MUDA Chairman C. Basavegowda and others were present.
