MP Tejasvi Surya to launch Vikram Sampath’s book on Savarkar in city tomorrow

Mysuru: Mysuru Literary Forum Charitable Trust and Mysuru Book Clubs-2015 have organised the Book Launch of Vikram Sampath’s “Savarkar: Echoes from a Forgotten Past” by MP Tejasvi Surya on Sunday (Sept. 15) at 6 pm at Hotel Southern Star, Vinobha Road, Mysuru.

Dr. Vikram Sampath is the author of three acclaimed books: “Splendours of Royal Mysore: The Untold Story of the Wodeyars”; “My Name is Gauhar Jaan: The Life and Times of a Musician” and “Voice of the Veena: S. Balachander, A Biography.”

He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi’s first Yuva Puraskar in English Literature in 2012 and the ARSC International Award for Excellence in Historical Research in New York for his book on Gauhar Jaan. The book has also been adapted to theatre as a play “Gauhar” by Lillette Dubey and is being adapted to a Bollywood film by Ashutosh Gowariker. Vikram was among the 4 writers and artistes to be selected as a Writer-in-Residence at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in 2015.

Vikram has a Doctorate in History and Music from the University of Queensland, Australia and is currently a Senior Research Fellow at the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, New Delhi. An Engineer/Mathematician from BITS-Pilani and an MBA in Finance from S. P. Jain, Mumbai, Vikram is also a trained Karnatak vocalist. He has established the Archive of Indian Music, India’s first digital sound archive for vintage recordings.

Tejasvi Surya, the Member of Parliament from Bengaluru South, is a young dynamic leader of just 28 years of age. An advocate by profession, Tejasvi practises at the High Court of Karnataka, taking up issues of public and national importance.

His dream of a prosperous, successful and powerful India has fuelled all his endeavours and propelled him through the ranks in ABVP and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Recognising his zeal, commitment and intellectual capability, BJP Election Committee chose him to be the BJP candidate from Bangalore South Constituency for the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.

Tejasvi, an ardent follower of Swami Vivekananda, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Veer Savarkar, is well read on history, religion and spirituality.

Right from his childhood days, Tejasvi took interest in serving the people. He took up leadership roles at St. Paul’s School in Belagavi and also served as the Head Boy at Sri Kumaran Children’s Home in Bengaluru.

A recipient of the Balaratna Award, he built his profile at the National PU College in Jayanagar, Bengaluru, where he set up a social organisation for youth called Arise India. He took interest in public policy at the Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies.

Recognising his potential, the British, Israeli and Russian Embassies invited Tejasvi to their countries as part of the Young Political Leaders of India delegation.

Being an excellent orator, Tejasvi is highly sought for various public speaking events across India. He has delivered important talks on various issues of national importance like National Security, Right To Education, Self Employment, Climate Change, Technology in Governance, Right to Data Privacy, Article 370, The Citizenship Bill among other things.
