MPMRT Annual Medicine Update 2024 held

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysore Physicians Medical and Research Trust (MPMRT) commemorated the Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) centenary celebrations by holding a three-day Annual Medicine Update 2024 at the new Centenary Lecture Hall and Library Block, MMC&RI campus in city from Jan.12 to 14.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. M.A. Shekar, Vice-Chancellor, Adichunchanagiri University, also an alumnus of MMC&RI and a Senior Diabetologist.

Dr. C.D. Sreenivasa Murthy, Chairman of MPMRT; Dr. H. Basavanagowdappa,  Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Principal of JSS Medical College; Dr. K.R. Dakshayani, Dean and Director, MMC&RI, Dr. V. Lakshminarayan, Vice-Chairman of MPMRT, Dr. M. Srinivasa, Treasurer of MPMRT; Dr. D.K. Suneetha, Professor and HoD of Medicine, MMC&RI, Dr. K.M. Srinath, Chairman of API Mysore Chapter; Dr. M. Premanath, Senior Physician and Dr. C. Umesh Kamath of Kamakshi Hospital were present.

More than 400 delegates including Post-Graduate students of General Medicine, Practicing Physicians & Family Physicians of Mysuru & surrounding districts attended the programme. Several renowned academicians participated as resource persons. The programme included several interactive sessions, problem-based clinical case discussions, orations and a quiz for the Post-Graduates.

About the Trust: The MPMRT Trust was inaugurated by Star of Mysore Founder-Editor K.B. Ganapathy in 2005. The Trust has been conducting Annual Medicine Update for the past 18 years, awarding orations to medical research workers and  academicians; gold medals to MBBS toppers, which was instituted by the 1966 alumni batch of MMC&RI. The Trust has supported several researchers in Medicine by providing research grants and has also given financial assistance to various medical organisations for conducting Continuing Medical Education (CME) programmes.
