Top-seed Ashwin Manigandan (TN) and third-seed S.S. Kanishka (KAR) entered the final in the boys and girls U-12 singles respectively on the penultimate day of the MTC Cup AITA Talent Series U-12 (boys & girls) Tournament conducted by Mysore Tennis Club here yesterday.

Ashwin Manigandan had to face tough challenge by local lad and third seed Mustafa M. Raja before prevailing 8-7 (7-5) in a keenly fought encounter. He will now face Karthik Pranav (TN), who got better of sixth seed P. Bhuvan 8-1 in the other semi-final.

In the girls U-12 semi-final, third-seed S.S. Kanishka (KAR) playing a consistent baseline game shocked the top-seed Adhya M. Bhat (KAR) 8-7 (7-2) and entered the final. In the other semi-final, fourth seed G. Joshika beat second seed Harshini 8-0.

Quarter-finals: Ashwin Manigandan bt Rurik Rajani (KAR) 8-2, Mustafa M. Raja (KAR) bt S. Chandan (KAR) 8-1, P. Bhuvan (KAR) bt Rakshak Tarun  (KAR) 8-5, Karthik Pranav (TN) bt Arya S. Prabhu (KAR) 8-3.
