Mysuru/ Bengaluru: In a dramatic and sudden development yesterday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife, B.M. Parvathi, wrote to the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Commissioner, expressing her decision to surrender the 14 sites allotted to her as compensation (50:50 ratio) for land that belonged to her but had been used by the Authority.

Her announcement comes hours after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) against Siddaramaiah in the money-laundering case. The federal agency filed the ECIR to book the CM and others. The ED has pressed sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to book Siddaramaiah in its ECIR, the equivalent of a Police FIR.

In her letter, released on social media late Monday night, Parvathi stated her intention to return the 14 sites of various dimensions allotted to her by MUDA in Vijayanagar 3rd and 4th Stages, requesting that the title deeds be cancelled. She urged the MUDA Commissioner to take steps to reclaim the                sites from her.

Parvathi explained that MUDA had allotted the sites as compensation for 3 acres and 16 guntas of land in survey number 464 of Kesare village, Mysuru, belonging to her, which had been utilised by MUDA without a formal land acquisition process.

CM meets Ministers

There was a flurry of political activity in Bengaluru last evening prior to the release of Parvathi’s letter. The Chief Minister met with two Ministers and  legal expert following the ED’s decision to file charges against him and his family.

The meeting included Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H.K. Patil, Social Welfare Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, the CM’s legal advisor and Virajpet MLA A.S. Ponnanna, Additional Chief Secretary L.K. Atheeq and ADGP (Intelligence) Hemant Nimbalkar.

Sources indicated that they discussed various options for the Chief Minister, including the possibility of seeking an injunction against the ED investigation.

 ‘Won’t impact prosecution’
