Mysuru: Following the State Government’s decision to annul the controversial 50:50 site allocation scheme of the erstwhile Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), the Mysuru Development Authority (MDA) has filed a caveat in the Mysuru Civil Court against possible legal challenges to the cancellation of such sites.
Through the caveat, the Authority has requested that the Court not issue any interim stay or injunction orders without hearing MDA’s position.
Officials expect that beneficiaries who lose their sites may approach the Court seeking temporary injunctions. To ensure that no such order is passed without hearing the Authority, the Government had directed MDA to file a caveat. The Authority has now complied with the direction.
Confirming the development to Star of Mysore, MDA In-Charge Commissioner B.R. Mahesh said, “The Government instructed us to file a caveat and accordingly, it has been submitted in the Civil Court.”
MDA in-Charge Commissioner Mahesh clarified that the Government has ordered the cancellation of irregular site allotments made after 2023. Accordingly, MDA is proceeding step by step to legally implement the cancellation process as per the Government notification.
However, Mahesh emphasised that there was no direction to cancel sites allotted after 2019 and that only sites allotted after 2023 were being annulled.
The Commissioner said, the cancellation process was underway and it was not yet possible to give the exact number of sites cancelled. Once the process is completed, MDA will issue an official press note and publish detailed statistics on its website.
