MUDA clears encroachment at Vijayanagar

Mysuru:  Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) officials, who took up encroachment drive at Vijayanagar yesterday morning, have demolished a compound and a shed which was illegally built on an empty site on Sri Yoganarasimhaswamy Temple Road in city.

A few people had constructed a shed and had erected a compound around it in MUDA site on 80 ft. Road. Despite MUDA serving several notices to them to clear the same, the people had not cleared the encroachment.

The said MUDA site has been allotted to an advocate and the encroachers were giving the advocate trouble, said MUDA Commissioner P.S. Kantharaju.

Yesterday morning, MUDA officials with the help of Police security reached the spot and demolished the illegal structures with the help of a backhoe (excavator).

During demolition, a few people came to the spot telling that they were land losers and began to argue with MUDA officials but had no documents to support their claims. They later came to know that it was MUDA property, said Kantharaju, who informed that the empty plot measuring about five guntas would be fenced and a notice board would be erected to safeguard MUDA property.

MUDA Zonal Officer Suresh Babu, AEE Joshi and others were present. Vijayanagar Inspector (In-Charge) Suresh Kumar and staff numbering about 25  provided security.
