Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Chairman H.V. Rajeev visited the COVID War Room housed at the new Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex in Siddarthanagar here on Saturday to have first-hand experience of its functioning.
Rajeev enquired the officers in-charge of the War Room about the number of oxygenated, ventilated and general beds as well as ICU beds available in Government and Private Hospitals in city. He also collected information about the number of calls they have been receiving per day and how the beds are being allotted to infected patients. Rajeev sought details about the facilities available for War Room staff members working in the day and night shifts and later addressed their concerns.
Speaking to reporters, he said, “As part of district administration’s fight against the pandemic, COVID War Room has been set up to streamline hospital admissions. District In-charge Minister S.T. Somashekar has given the responsibility of managing the War Room to D. Devaraj Urs Backward Classes Development Corporation Chairman R. Raghu and hospital bed management to myself. Both citizens and Corona patients are calling the Helpline (0821-2424111) with their queries. Recommendation will be made to Hospitals for admission depending upon the health condition of patients besides obtaining details of beds available in both Government and Private Hospitals.”
“All those who have been tested positive would not need oxygenated beds. Only those who are symptomatic might require one, but of late, people are unnecessarily getting panicked and calling War Room for oxygenated beds. I would request all asymptomatic patients to isolate themselves at home for at least five days, follow their doctor’s advice and take medications accordingly. Only if the patient has severe symptoms such as difficulty in breathing, doctors would advise for oxygenated bed or ventilator, which we would arrange here at the War Room,” he added.
