MUDA reclaims encroached property worth Rs. 15 crore

Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) has reclaimed its properties worth Rs. 15.4 crore that had been allegedly encroached upon and fenced.

In an operation for clearing the encroachments recently, the MUDA authorities reclaimed land at T.K. Layout Survey No. 777 40X60 square feet worth Rs. 1.70 crore. This particular plot had been encroached and illegally fenced. At Dattagalli Survey No. 114 and 115 three 50X80 plots were recovered and the total value of the property is Rs. 12 crore. One more plot at T.K. Layout worth Rs. 1.70 crore has been recovered.

Earth movers were used to destroy the fence. Later, MUDA put up boards on the reclaimed sites warning against encroachment. In all, the total value of the properties recovered stand at  Rs. 15.4 crore.

MUDA Commissioner Dr. D.B. Natesh, Superintending Engineer Shankar, Zonal Officer Kiran, Assistant Engineer Ravi Kumar and staff participated in the clearing operation.

But the common feeling among the public regarding such encroachment clearing operations is that MUDA allows land sharks and the influential persons to grab as much land as they can but targets only small encroachers. Action is not taken on the prime properties that are occupied by the powers that be, feel the tax-paying public.
