Mysuru: Adding to the long list of people lodging complaints against Soundar Raj alias Chinnathambi, who is accused of cheating thousands of customers to the tune of crores of rupees after getting their gold ornaments pledged with him, a man from Bengaluru has lodged a complaint at Kuvempunagar Police Station, accusing Chinnathambi of cheating him.
P.K. Suhas, a resident of Banashankari in Bengaluru, is the one who has lodged the complaint.
In his complaint, Suhas has stated that as he was in need of money, he had decided to sell his 85-gram gold jewellery and came across an advertisement from Mysuru-based SDJ Gold Company which offered more money for the gold.
On Mar. 25, 2026 at about 5.30 pm, Suhas, along with his father D.K. Pralhada came to Sri Narasimha Jewellers in Mysuru and gave the 85-gram gold jewellery to gold company owner Chinnathambi, who took the gold and melted it.
The complaint further states that Chinnathambi, after melting the gold, told Suhas and his father that there was less gold and he would give Rs. 6 lakh for it. Not willing to sell the gold for such a less price, Suhas and his father took back the gold and left for Bengaluru.
Later, on getting the melted gold checked in Bengaluru, Suhas came to know that there was only 32 percent gold and alleged that Chinnathambi had cheated them of 51 grams of gold.
The father-son duo, who came to Mysuru again, went to SDJ Gold Company and enquired about it, during which Chinnathambi gave them Rs. 4 lakh cash and gave a cheque for the remaining Rs. 4 lakh. After a few days, Chinnathambi told them not to produce the cheque in the Bank and asked them to come to the gold company and collect the cash. But when they went to the gold company, Chinnathambi did not pay the cash and kept on delaying to pay the cash.
Based on the complaint, Kuvempunagar Police have registered a case in this regard.
