Multimedia presentation on ‘Wonders of the Night Sky’ tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysore Open Forum has organised a multimedia presentation on ‘Wonders of the Night Sky’ by Dr. S.N. Prasad, former Principal, Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Mysuru, at 10.30 am on Saturday (June 25) at Kalpa Kshetra Auditorium, 581/1, Vijayanagar 4th Stage, 1st Phase, Mysuru.

Dr. S.N. Prasad is a Teacher, Educator and Educational Consultant with over forty years of field experience. He is actively involved in popularisation of Science, including observational Astronomy, through lectures, demonstrations and writings. He has observed total solar eclipses in China (2009), Indonesia (2016), USA (2017) besides India (1980) and travelled widely in different countries. Currently, he is on the Advisory Board of the Education and Public Outreach Committee of the COSMOS Project relating to the setting up of a state-of-the-art Planetarium in Mysuru.

In this multimedia presentation, the audience will be taken through a bird’s eye view of the magnificent wonders of the night sky as visible through the bare human eye as well as through telescopes, both small and large. 

This includes the members of our own solar system, the innumerable and different types of stars that ‘stud’ the night sky, a variety of apparent groupings of them leading to the commonly perceived stellar constellations and not so well recognised star clusters and multiple stars.
